Santander Trade Portal – making trading abroad easier

If you want to sell abroad and develop an export market, but aren’t sure where to start - read on!

I am always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to help businesses grow and explore new markets…..and this week I came across a brilliant service from Santander Bank (Corporate and Commercial). It’s called ‘Santander Trade Portal’ – and in a nutshell, it’s a way of making trading abroad easier for you.

It’s an online information platform developed for companies looking abroad to find new markets and business opportunities. I’ve had a play around with it – and it is very easy to navigate, and find the information you need to expand internationally.

It’s really innovative – and with the right information and knowledge for international trade, overseas markets needn’t be as ‘mysterious’ or indeed, risky, as you thought.

You can find out all you need to know from the Santander website – but to summarise:

Where to expand

You will be able to decide where the best opportunities are by gathering information such as:

  • Country profiles
  • International Events
  • International requests for bids
  • Import/Export flows worldwide
  • Market reports and international market statistics

Who to do business with

  • Importers/export companies
  • Commercial contacts
  • How to get there
  • Cross-border information
  • Export controls
  • Shipment documents
  • Landed cost
  • Export pricing
  • Currencies

How to establish in a foreign country

  • Foreign country information
  • Invest country information
  • Taxes
  • International desk
  • Counterparts
  • Databases to find potential customers and suppliers, as well as to find out more on competitors
  • Banking - information on Santander products and services to manage your international business as well as an international trade guide

You will have access to the necessary information to invest in a foreign country. Access to the International Desk multilingual support and to the Santander Group’s services in 14 countries.

The Chamber of Commerce also have access to a Team of International Trade Advisors – and our local guy, Bryan Treherne, is the Chairman of the South London Export Club and a brilliant International Trade Advisor. He’s always happy to chat – +44 (0)77 7971 7326 or send him an email.
